The summer is plentiful in the Netherlands. That means you have your skin no matter what skin type you have to protect yourself properly against harmful UV rays. The advice is to apply sunscreen frequently. In our clinic, we regularly receive questions about sun creams. For example, should you apply sunscreen under or over your daily facial care? What about makeup? I give the following things to my clients as advice.
If you want to optimally protect your skin, you should apply it regularly. Even when you're sitting in the shade. Preferably every two to three hours. Your face, in particular, is the most exposed to the sun's rays. So always make sure you have a protective SPF on top of your day cream. We do not recommend applying sunscreen under your day cream. This is because day cream must be given the opportunity to absorb enough into the skin. In this way, facial care can nourish and moisturize the skin.
Apply any foundation, powder or other makeup on top of the sunscreen. In that case, for optimal protection, choose foundations and powders with an SPF that protect against the sun. Keep in mind that it's always better not to apply makeup over your sunscreen at all. Because when you update makeup regularly, the sunscreen loses its protective effect.
