What are the disadvantages or side effects of botox? Before undergoing a treatment, it is of course always good to inform yourself about the possible side effects and dangers of botox. Fortunately, botox does not have many side effects and they almost always take place immediately after treatment. Around the site of the injection, there may be a small blue spot or some redness, accompanied by a burning sensation or not.
There are no known long-term botox side effects. This applies to all the different injection sites such as the frown wrinkle, the forehead, the crow's feet, the eyes, armpits, for example. After a botox forehead treatment, the treated area can sometimes feel a bit flat, which is then described as a headache. This is how the botox works and you have to get used to it, this feeling lasts a maximum of a few days. Of course, more serious side effects are also possible, the most well-known being a drooping eyelid. This is a side effect that occurs from the wrong treatment technique. Fortunately, thanks to the years of experience we have gained in our clinic, we never see this. The same goes for the so-called Dr. Spock side effect named after the eyebrows of the character of the same name from the movie Star Trek. This raises eyebrows very much; this is often done consciously in America, while this is something that is less appreciated in the Netherlands. Then it is also conceivable that something can go wrong with the dosage of the botox. When too much botox is placed in the forehead, the eyebrow actually comes down instead of rising slightly. By not using too much botox during the first treatment but possibly treating it later, this can easily be prevented. It is important to realize that botox is a very safe, well-tested drug if used properly.
