Peeling

Peeling: What does it do for your skin?

Peeling has been a popular cosmetic skin treatment for years. And that's not without reason, because peeling effectively removes the top layer of the skin. In this way, minor skin damage can be addressed. Think of traces of acne and scars, but also small wrinkles and pigmentation. The result? New, young skin cells come to the surface. Blemishes disappear and the skin looks smoother, firmer and fresher.

Types of peels

There are different types of peels, each with specific properties. An example of this are physical peels, where the top layer of skin is (mechanically) removed using, for example, a laser treatment whether microdermabrasion, which literally means “grinding off the skin”. There are also chemical peels where the skin is treated with a chemical, for example TCA. A chemical peel causes the superficial skin cells to die.

Is peeling for me?

A peel is effective for various skin problems. I recommend peeling if you suffer from:

  • large pores
  • skin aging
  • dull skin
  • pigment spots
  • sun damage
  • acne

Peeling treatment

Peeling is usually applied to the face, but it is also possible to apply a treatment to areas where the skin is thinner, such as the neck and décolleté. A play takes about 5 to 10 minutes. The skin is first cleaned and then the peeling should work for a few minutes, depending on the skin's reaction. The best results were achieved after approximately four treatments. Because the skin is extra sensitive after a peel, I recommend that you avoid direct sunlight shortly after the treatment.

Fruit acid peeling

Our clinic works with the Neostrata Peeling, a peeling that works much deeper than normal facial treatments. This is because Neostrata is a glycolic acid peel. Glycolic Acid falls under the organic acids and is mainly found in fruit. That's why this acid is also known as fruit acid. The acid stimulates skin cell division, improving the structure of the skin. Fruit acids have a powerful oxidizing effect that increases the connection between collagen and elastin in the skin. All this provides a rejuvenating effect. In short, the Neostrata Peeling:

  • purifies pores
  • restores acidity
  • refines the pore structure
  • increases cell division
  • strengthens the vascular walls
  • has a moisture-binding effect
