Red meat...

Many patients ask me how healthy/unhealthy red meat is for you. Beef, pork, lamb, and veal are excellent (and delicious) sources of protein. We know that proteins are essential; without adequate proteins, our bodies age rapidly. This is because our muscles, organs, bones, skin and, for example, the antibodies, our immune system, consist of proteins. Many essential processes in our body also use proteins. Like fish and poultry, red meat contains all the necessary amino acids. However, red meat also contains saturated fats and these can cause an imbalance in the body. Another negative aspect (and this includes poultry) is that they may also contain antibiotics, hormones and other substances. I therefore recommend that you always eat organic meat, which is completely antibiotic and hormone free. Another option is to take a look at 'new' types of meat, such as buffalo and ostrich. Both types of meat have the versatility and aroma of red meat, but these are much healthier variants.
