'Silver surgery' cosmetic treatment for increasingly older people

'Silver surgery' — cosmetic medicine for increasingly older people — has become a hot topic around the world, thanks in part to Marie Kolstad. At home 83-year-old woman has been in almost every newspaper around the world after revealing her breast augmentation. Of course, this operation is quite controversial and it is also shameful that such a major cosmetic operation is still performed at this advanced age. Few people agree with her “about having the right to change the body as she sees fit”. Mrs. Kolstad still works full time, works as a real estate manager and, according to her, is “in the middle of life”. “Your breasts go in one direction and your brain goes in another,” she told the New York Times. “I'm healthy, and I'm feeling good, why shouldn't I benefit from that? I want my kids to be proud of me about how I look.” This last comment is actually remarkable, because she suggests that she is not doing the treatment so much for herself, but for others. The critics cite this as an indication of how look-obsessed American society has become... Mrs. Kolstad is certainly not the only one, but she is the most extreme example. Increasingly older women are choosing to take matters into their own hands and turn back the clock with the help of cosmetic treatments. There are a range of safe non-invasive methods (such as Botox and Juvéderm) to smooth wrinkles and slow down the aging process. The beauty of this treatment is that you can't see that someone has been treated, but that person looks 10 times better.
