Stretch marks

Stretch marks in men

People can also suffer from stretch marks: after a growth spurt, when they gain a lot of weight, lose weight, or when they exercise heavily. Bodybuilders and men who exercise are therefore at high risk of stretch marks. Stretch marks in men occurs when the skin is stretched due to the (too) rapid growth of muscle tissue. The subcutaneous connective tissue ruptures. This creates stripes; stretch marks. In men, stretch marks mainly occur on the arms, thighs and chest. Diseases, hormones and certain medications (Prednisone) can promote stretch marks. If you use anabolic steroids, you can also cause stretch marks. This is because these drugs mimic the effect of the male sex hormone. Fortunately, stretch marks are harmless. Disfiguring — for many — yes. Because stretch marks are a scar, you should be extra careful in the sun. So rub it in properly! Prevent stretch marks? Quite simply, if you change your weight, for example because you train hard, make sure your skin remains elastic by lubricating preventively with a nourishing and moisturizing cream. Furthermore: massage, eat healthy and drink plenty of water. In short, everything that is good for your skin also helps prevention of stretch marks. Little effort, big fun. In my two previous blogs you can read about the reducing stretch marks with the help of creams and treatments. Very interesting for men, too.
