It's the time for healthy shakes made from summer fruits such as blueberries, red grapes, strawberries, raspberries or blackberries. Summer fruit is now widely available and is best enjoyed at this time of year. Ten reasons to drink summer fruit shakes and become a more beautiful version of yourself: 1. Summer fruit has a natural anti-aging effect. This is because it is full of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps produce collagen (collagen keeps your skin elastic). Vitamin C is also very good for your immune system. 2. Summer fruits, especially (forest) berries and plums, contain a lot antioxidants. These help protect your skin from sunlight and protect your skin against aging. Antioxidants also remove harmful substances from your body. 3. The sugars in fruit provide energy but hardly provide any calories. 4. Summer fruit, especially cherries, contain a lot of potassium, which keeps you blood pressure under control. 5. Summer fruit supports good bowel function. Raspberries and blackberries in particular contain a lot of fiber. Fiber ensures that you are satiated faster and longer. In addition, fibres ensure good bowel function and optimal bowel movement. 6. Summer fruit is ideal for making delicious, refreshing fruit smoothies. For example, the combination of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries with low-fat yogurt or (almond) milk. Just put it in the blender, possibly sweeten it with guava syrup and you have a delicious, nutritious and super healthy fruit shake. 7. Seasonal fruit is cheap. Because these types of fruit are now widely cultivated and available, they are priced more favourably than in the winter. 8. Dutch strawberries will be available from May. They are rich in vitamins C and B and also contain potassium, iron, fiber and antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that disable free radicals. These free radicals cause your skin to age. The antioxidants therefore prevent this. 9. Apricots are also part of summer fruit. Apricots do not contain much vitamin C, but there are other important nutrients, such as the minerals potassium, phosphorus and iron. 10. Raspberries are delicious and contain a lot of vitamin C and fiber. Cherries are at their best in June and July and are an excellent source of essential foods. They provide energy (through carbohydrates), strengthen bones and hair with calcium and are full of vitamin C, which improves the production of red blood cells.
