We don't treat lines, but your face

Injectables in 2019: forget the lines, deal with the emotion and change the mindset. In the past, cosmetic doctors only looked at the interplay of lines, looked into the face and treated only details, the results of a basic emotion, so to speak. Everything had to be smooth 1+1 was 3 and as long as you had a smooth chat (because really, you could talk to us women about anything, we didn't know what it was about at all, we just wanted to be “made smooth”), so hot air, you were in the right place. Like a doctor. We don't want the Emperor's New Clothes It looks like a variant of the famous fairy tale The Emperor's New Clothes, with the motive that invisible beauty is only visible to extraordinary people... ;-) What you see is not the problem, but a consequence And now... in 2019, that interplay of lines counts much less. Initially, you go to a clinic to treat your frown line, your nasolabial crease, your sagging jawline, your sunken cheeks. That's what you see for yourself, one dimensional in the mirror. It's hard to look at your face differently. Don't sell invisible beauty

But a good cosmetic doctor completely ignores that dimensional image and talks to you, says cosmetic doctor Frodo Gaymans, from the Doctor Frodo clinic in Amsterdam of the same name, and trainer of many colleagues in the field. 'I want to know why a certain feature on your face bothers you. Why it bothers you so much that it would cost you an expensive treatment to fix it. I want to find out what the underlying idea is: why is this person really coming to me? “Do you dream of looking smarter, younger, more feminine (or masculine, of course) or more attractive? Or do you want to focus more on improving an angry, sad, tired or saggy face? By finding out and acting on these core feelings, you really create the most beautiful version of the client and fully meet the (unconscious) expectations. The result is a visible improvement in beauty. ' Prevent it from becoming unnatural A good cosmetic doctor won't, because you think you have to, you frown line inject, fill in your lips and mask your nose lip line because you think you'll look beautiful, fresh, radiant and youthful again, even though your face will actually look even more unnatural. Smoothing promotes asymmetry Frodo: “Your true beauty isn't hidden in smoothing your face, which looks good in a photo, but will show a strange asymmetry when you move because your muscles will compensate. Not the line, but the feeling counts “Your true beauty lies in the feeling you have about yourself and what you want to do something about. That latent anger that drags you along, that sadness, the tiredness that you will feel irrevocably as you live life... If you go about that, you will experience much more satisfaction after treatment. More satisfied after treatment “Expectations can be managed much better, and the doctor can work with you to develop a more effective treatment plan in which you always work in small steps to make those basic emotions less prominent in your face,” he says. That symmetry that has been used for a long time in the cosmetic medical industry, by both injectables, doctors and plastic surgeons, has had its time. We work on an emotional level Frodo: “You don't brush off the individual features, they give the face an authentic character, you work on a higher (emotional) level. More holistic... “It's no longer about the parts, but about the sum of the parts. A perception of your whole face. When you work as a doctor using this approach, your client's sense of happiness is enhanced. “Concretely: many women want to look more feminine and therefore have their lips enlarged. But will it make you look more feminine? No... If you have your forehead tightened with Botox, what is your purpose, what emotion is behind that? You no longer feel elegant, feminine? Do you think a smooth forehead makes you more elegant? No... Disturbed harmony makes you more unattractive 'The pitfall is that the natural harmony in your face is disrupted, making you look more unattractive. Crazy huh... Three-dimensionally looking at the face 'I'm still philosophizing, I know, I'm going into a lot of depth now, but I think it's important to make people realize that only well-trained doctors, who are also able to look almost three dimensionally, can keep your face natural yet fresh. “Nowadays, because of the huge range of mostly young doctors with little experience, there is too much chance that an image will be created that meets your requirements, but that actually does not match well because your face has not 1 dimension, but 3. You look at yourself through the eyes of the selfie protocol, but the people around you don't, they see all sides of you. I deal with perception and change your mindset In short: the perception of your face must be treated, your overall looks, according to Frodo. “A good doctor zooms in on the mindset of the woman or man he or she has in front of him.” But what does that mean in practice? Frodo gives some very striking examples:

  • I want to look less saggy: Features as well as points to address include reduced volume on the temples and cheekbones, sagging cheeks, puffiness, puppet lines from the corner of the mouth to the jaw line, hamster cheeks and poor skin quality.
  • I want to look less sad around my eyes and mouth: Characteristics and points of action include: low eyebrows, drooping corners of the eyes, crow's feet, puffiness, poor skin quality, sagging cheeks, loss of lip contour, sagging corners of the mouth and deep marionette lines.
  • I want to look less tired: Characteristics and points of action include: sagging eyebrows, bags under the eyes, sagging cheeks, crow's feet and poor skin quality.
  • I want to look less angry: Characteristics and points of action: frowns. wrinkles around the eyes, too much tension around the lips and chin area, too wide jawline.
  • I want to look younger: Features and approach: loss of volume on forehead and temples, sagging eyebrows, crow's feet, puffiness, sagging and hollow cheeks, marionette lines, thin creased lips, sagging jawline, sunken chin area and poor skin quality
  • I want to look more feminine: Characteristics include a large, high forehead, narrow temples, lines around the eyes and poor skin quality. It is then necessary to create higher eyebrows and fuller cheekbones, more definition in the lower part of the cheek, a more pronounced lip, and a triangle-shaped chin.
  • I want to look more masculine: The plan of action is then to create a stronger forehead, a stronger chin and jawline, stronger cheekbones, define the face and make it slightly smarter.
