Your child at the cosmetic doctor?

At what age do you agree if your child wants a cosmetic treatment? What if the child can afford it himself or if they have reached a certain age? I think most of us will immediately say, “no, never!” But what if your child is being bullied for his or her appearance? In the United States, precursors to all cosmetic trends, there is already plenty of discussion about at what age a cosmetic treatment will become acceptable. This is a much-discussed topic, especially when it comes to bullying. We will probably have more to deal with this in the Netherlands in a few years, but it is already happening, for example when solving floppy ears. Should you teach your child to deal with a very difficult situation and to be proud of his or her appearance, instead of going to a cosmetic doctor? Even if the treatment isn't drastic? Tough questions that may not apply to you. But the answer to that does say something about how we deal with beauty in our society. My own opinion about this? As a matter of principle, I do not treat children. It is very difficult for children to tell how the face will develop. To influence this at an early age does not seem like a wise development to me. Because where is the limit? If your child is being bullied or would like a cosmetic treatment, we will be happy to help you find an alternative solution.
