 PRP Plasma

PRP Plasma

The treatment with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP plasma) is unique in its natural origin. PRP consists of filtered plasma from your own blood (hence the nickname ‘Vampire Facelift’).
This plasma contains a high concentration of platelets and active growth factors. These play an important part in regenerative processes in the body. PRP injections have a rejuvenating, firming, and moisturising effect on the skin, which makes your skin look radiant and smooth again.

The use of the body’s own blood plasma and platelets to promote healing has been common practice in dentistry and orthopaedics for years. Now, this innovative technique is also available for cosmetic applications.
What makes PRP so special is that we can use the strength of your own blood to restore the vitality of your skin.

What is PRP?

What is PRP?

During a treatment with PRP, we first take a small amount of your blood. This blood is then centrifuged. This process results in the filtered plasma from your own blood. This plasma contains a high concentration of blood platelets, including active growth factors. These play an important part in regenerative processes in the body. PRP injections in the skin have a rejuvenating, firming, and hydrating effect, which results in a radiant, tighter skin.

Now, this innovative technique is also available for cosmetic applications. What makes PRP so special is that we can use the strength of your own blood to restore the vitality of your skin.

PRP plasma is used in our clinic for or against:

  • Facial skin improvement
  • Neck and cleavage skin improvement
  • Hand skin improvement
The effect of PRP

The effect of PRP

With aging, the reduction of collagen type 1 results in fine lines and deeper wrinkles. The PRP injection counteracts this aging process. With a PRP treatment, we inject activated blood platelets into the skin. This stimulates the skin to produce collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin provide the flexibility vitality of the skin. Therefore, they give you a radiant skin.

The skin improvement is noticeable even after one treatment. Even so, we recommend that you undergo three treatments. After that, you can preserve the effect by undergoing treatment once a year.

Vampire Facelift

‘Great!’, is what Dracula would have thought if he saw what else you can do with blood. Because that is what the Vampire Facelift is: a cosmetic technique in which we use your own blood to create a radiant and tighter skin. This treatment is officially called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and the effect is much more pleasant than having two bite marks on your neck.

Angel Lift

PRP rejuvenates, strengthens, and hydrates the facial skin. Therefore, PRP combined with, for example, fillers, such as with the Angel Lift, is perfect for people who want to get return to a radiant, natural appearance and a revitalised skin.  With the Angel Lift, we combine the PRP treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers. The Angel Lift was partially developed by the doctors of Kliniek Dokter Frodo.

History of PRP

History of PRP

Dentists and orthopaedists have been using endogenous blood plasma and platelets in their work for years. They do this to speed up recovery after a treatment. Their expertise in the area of blood plasma was then translated to the cosmetic practice by Regen Lab.

Before PRP was introduced as part of a cosmetic treatment, the technique was tested clinically. The PRP was then put into practice in treatments of the nervous system, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, cardiac muscle injury, bone repair and regeneration, plastic surgery, and dental surgery.

PRP in medicine and for cosmetic purposes

PRP in medicine and for cosmetic purposes

An example of the use of PRP in medicine is with the inflammation of a tendon. A tendon does not naturally have good blood circulation.

When this is inflamed, our bodies have trouble reaching and dealing with the inflammation. This can be stimulated with a PRP injection. This causes more blood vessels to reach the inflammation, which allows the body to better deal with it. In surgery, PRP is also regularly used to accelerate recovery, such as in wound healing and in the healing of bone and skin tissue.

Recently, PRP has become available for cosmetic purposes as an innovative skin improvement technique. Thanks to the role of PRP as a step in the revolutionary Angel Lift, the popularity of Platelet Rich Plasma at Kliniek Dokter Frodo has grown enormously.

Safety

Safety

How safe is PRP?

A great advantage of PRP treatments is that you are treated with your own blood plasma. This makes this method very safe and free of transmissible risks. Also, many clients like the thought of not having any chemical or toxic substances injected into their skin, but purely their own blood.

Scary, creepy, and dangerous?

Scary, creepy, and dangerous?

No, absolutely not. In the clinical setting of our private clinic, we take some of your blood and separate the blood platelets from the blood using a centrifuge. This takes approximately 5 minutes, after which we put PRP into the skin with a mesogun.

Whether or not the PRP treatment hurts depends on the method used for getting the plasma into the skin. With the painless mesogun we use in our clinic, you experience no pain. The PRP treatment (also as part of the Angel Lift) feels like being ‘tapped on the skin’.

Side effects

The PRP treatment at Kliniek Dokter Frodo has a minimal risk of side effects. As with most injectable treatments, such as a filler treatment, there is a chance of swelling, redness, or possibly a bruise after the treatment. However, these quickly disappear again. The treatment is not suitable for clients with blood disorders such as coagulation problems.
