Wrinkles are creases, folds or ridges in the skin. Wrinkles are mostly caused by facial movements and expression, but can also be caused by sun damage, smoking, dehydration and environmental and genetical factors. Wrinkles tend to appear at parts which receive the most sun exposure, like the face and neck, the back of the hands and the arms.
Prior to the treatment, we always provide a free initial consultation in which we discuss the various treatment methods and you meet your consultant and the doctor. We discuss the potential treatment method(s), your wishes, and your expectations. According to the principle of the ‘whole face approach’, we create a treatment plan together with you. During the initial consultation, we also ask about your medical history, previous treatments, and any use of medication in order to eliminate all potential risks and treat you in a safe way.
Every wrinkle has its own story. Therefore, we perform a detailed analysis of the cause of your wrinkles. We do this based on our Magic Markers Method and, if necessary, a 3D photo in which you, after editing by the doctor, can see the treatment results in advance.

Rimpels zijn kleine vouwtjes in het huidoppervlak waar de huidstructuur wat zwakker is. Het is een soort cutane (huid)breuk, ontstaan doordat de huidstructuur plaatselijk wat zwakker is. De voornaamste oorzaak is het afnemen van de eiwitten collageen en elastine. Elastine zorgt voor de soepelheid van de huid. Bindweefsel bestaat voor een groot deel uit collageen. Door samentrekking en beweging slijt het collageen en ontstaan er rimpels.
We onderscheiden twee soorten rimpels: statische rimpels en mimische rimpels. Bij statische rimpels hebben we het over groeven of plooien en met mimische rimpels spreken we van rimpels zoals fronsrimpels of kraaienpootjes, die ontstaan door het aanspannen van de spieren. We verwijderen en corrigeren deze rimpels met niet-chirurgische behandelingen zoals Botox en fillers.
Diepe rimpels zijn groeven of plooien. Mimische rimpels, zoals de fronsrimpels of kraaienpootjes, ontstaan niet door verslapping van de huid, maar door het aanspannen van de spieren.

With Botox and/or hyaluronic acid, we can fill up wrinkles and correct the volume that is deficit.

The removal of wrinkles depends on the type of wrinkle. Sometimes fine wrinkles can be reduced by good skincare. If the wrinkles are deeper, then different treatments are possible. For the treatment of fine lines, we often use injectables as Botox. Deep wrinkles that we can’t reduce well with Botox, we treat with fillers.
Wrinkles can be effectively treated using two methods: Botox and/or fillers. It depends on the depth of your wrinkles which treatment’s the best treatment for your wrinkles. During the initial consultation at Kliniek Dokter Frodo, we perform a thorough analysis of your face. Based on this, we will choose the treatment for wrinkles that will best suits you. A wrinkles treatment, including consultation, usually takes about 30 minutes. The exact duration depends on the choice of treatment made in consultation.
Prior to the treatment, you will receive a detailed consultation with your doctor. The treatment with Botox itself takes no more than 5 minutes. The botulinum toxin is injected directly into the muscle via a thin needle. After the treatment, there may be slight redness or a light swelling. This fades very quickly, often within 10 minutes. You can resume your daily activities right after the treatment.
When filling up a volume deficit, we use a cannula and the skin – if desired – is locally sedated. The hyaluronic acid is applied just under the skin and reduced the wrinkles or causes them to disappear entirely. The recovery time is virtually zero and the results are immediately visible.

Shortly after the treatment with Botox, the skin will look normal again. Two to four days after the Botox wrinkles treatment, you already see a small reduction in wrinkles. Before the botulinum toxin fully does its job, approximately two weeks have passed. After two weeks, the maximum effect is reached and you return to the clinic for a check-up. The skin looks relaxed and the wrinkle becomes less deep. The effect lasts for three to six months. For the best results, the treatment is sometimes complemented or combined with other treatments, such as fillers and/or carboxytherapy.
With the filler treatment, you will see immediate results after the wrinkles treatment. However, there may be some swelling on the first day. The swelling is worst on the first days and disappears within a few days. Sometimes, there is a bruise that can be visible for one to two weeks. In this case, avoid direct sunlight to prevent pigmentation.
The hyaluronic acid needs two weeks to properly settle into the surrounding tissue. After two weeks, you come back for a check-up. You always need to return for a check-up. The hyaluronic acid needs a few days to settle. During the first week after the treatment, the filler can shift somewhat and look irregular. We can correct this during the check-up. The hyaluronic acid is broken down after 1,5 years at the earliest. For most people, this takes longer. We recommend not waiting until the results are completely gone, but returning before everything disappears. This prevents a yo-yo effect.

Botox wrinkles treatment
Botox has been used in medicine safely and without any serious side effects for almost forty years. In very rare cases, when too much is used, a tight feeling can occur that lasts 1 to 2 months. However, this only happens sporadically.
Filler wrinkles treatment
Hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm or Restylane) is an endogenous substance, which means it is very safe. The body virtually does not react to it. An allergic reaction is very unlikely, and if necessary, the filler is soluble. This makes it a very suitable and safe product.
If you are younger than 18 years old, you cannot undergo cosmetic treatment at our clinic.
If you are afraid of needles and would still like to undergo treatment, we will provide additional guidance and ensure that you feel completely at ease. With the right tools, we can get you through the treatment without experiencing pain or distress.
The result of the Botox treatment remains visible for 3 to 4 months. The result of the filler treatment remains visible for 6 to 18 months. There are great individual differences, and usually, it says in much longer. The aging of the face continues slowly (it loses more volume), which can cause the result to decline somewhat. At this point, the filler is still present, but preservering the result with a touch-up treatment is desirable. We recommend not waiting until the result is completely gone, but coming back before everything disappears, this avoiding a yo-yo effect. We use smaller quantities during a touch-up treatment.
Should you unfortunately be unsatisfied with the results, then we can easily dissolve the hyaluronic acid without any residual symptoms.
