5 Nutrition Tips for Healthy Skin

Creams, tonics and toners come in all shapes and sizes and are available for all skin types. However, skin care is not limited to these external care products. Foods with the right properties nourish the skin from within and help ensure healthy and radiant skin. In our clinic, we recommend the following products, among others.

1. Dark chocolate

You might not think so, but dark chocolate gives your skin a boost. In addition, dark chocolate also protects you from the harmful effects of the sun. The thing is: the cocoa powder in dark chocolate contains flavanoids and polyphenols. These antioxidants provide improved blood flow to the skin. The result is softer, thicker and radiant skin. Choose dark chocolate with a high cocoa content (over 80%) for the best effect.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has an antibacterial effect. In addition, the capric and lauric acids in coconut oil provide a protective layer on your skin. This makes coconut oil also ideal for external use as a body lotion.

3. Salmon

Because salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, eating salmon causes acne, wrinkles and against inflammations. By eating salmon, you hydrate the skin from within. Thanks to the polyunsaturated fatty acids, waste products are removed, so that your skin evens out and glows.

4. Carrots

Carrots are not only good for your eyes, but also for your skin. Carrots are rich in pro-vitamin A (carotene), which prevents the overproduction of cells in the outer layer of the skin. In addition, the vitamins prevent the production of skin cancer cells. So feel free to nibble on some carrots regularly for healthy skin.

5. Spinach

Spinach is rich in vitamins and contains iron, magnesium and folic acid, among other things. The antioxidants ensure that skin problems are addressed from within. Spinach is therefore a perfect skin cleanser. Want to read more about healthy skin? Check out the next tips.
