Nowadays, there is so much information about skin care products that many people no longer know what is and isn't true, especially when it comes to anti-aging products. Wrong or bad advice means that people damage rather than care for their skin, resulting in accelerated aging. This is exactly what we don't want! Below you can read about the most common myths related to anti-aging.
Moisturizers are designed to maintain the water and oil levels of the outer layers of the skin. The skin stays so hydrated, but it certainly doesn't remove wrinkles. A moisturizer should therefore only be used on dry skin. If you have oily skin, a moisturizer can actually make it worse. In the case of extremely dry skin (if you have flakes, for example), a moisturizer may not be enough to nourish your skin. A visit to a dermatologist could then offer a solution.
This is certainly not true! The UV rays can reach your skin all year round, because the sun is present, especially in the winter months (otherwise it won't be light). Although there is less of the sun to see, this does not mean that there is no radiation. This is because the UV rays simply come through the clouds. It is therefore best to wear good quality SPF, preferably a factor of 30 or higher, all year round.
It is often thought that as soon as there is an improvement, or the desired result has been achieved, you can stop using the anti-aging products and go back to your 'old' creams. But beware: the aging process of the skin does not stop. To maintain the result, you will therefore have to keep lubricating with the anti-aging product. This certainly applies to products that reduce wrinkles and age spots.
Not true. Products are often offered in age categories. But why? The ingredients in age-categorized products are generally the same. What does make a distinction is in creams for certain skin types or a specific skin condition, for example dry skin, oily skin or eczema.
Wrinkles are a direct result of excessive sun exposure, genetic determination, loss of estrogen, muscle movement and/or fat loss. All things related to the process of aging and therefore not to dry skin. This does not mean that a good moisturizer is not necessary. Although a good moisturizer cannot make wrinkles disappear or prevent them from forming, it can help reduce the visibility of the wrinkles. The best way to prevent the aging process is to take good care of your skin every day. The first step is to wash your skin with a mild cleanser before applying an appropriate cream. In addition, you must drink enough water to remove waste products. Aren't you doing this? Then they leave a dull and grey color on your skin; something you can't smear against.
