After a month of eating, conviviality and sweets, we've all sinned a bit. Sweets are the biggest cult in the month of December (and secretly the rest of the year).
Sugar in any form (corn syrup, cane sugar, white sugar, etc.) is very damaging to the skin — and in fact to the whole body.
Sugar and foods that are rapidly converted to sugars cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, resulting in a high release of insulin into the bloodstream. This ensures that we store fat instead of burning it.
When sugars or starches are eaten, they cause an inflammatory (inflammatory) reaction in the body. The sugar molecule binds permanently to protein (such as collagen in our skin and other parts of the body). This process is called glycolization.
By “binding glucose”, free radicals an inflammatory mechanism. This mechanism creates enzymes that break down collagen, causing the skin to age even faster and get wrinkles (for which people will use expensive creams again). In addition to mild inflammation, glycolization also causes cross-linking in our collagen, causing loss of flexibility. Unfortunately, this cross-linking occurs not only in our skin but throughout the body and has a negative impact on our vessels, organs, ligaments and even our brain.
Against our better judgment, we often can't resist snacking. I recommend dark chocolate with 85% cocoa. Not much sugar, delicious and rich in antioxidants axle flavonoids.
