It's been summer for a while now! Most people really enjoy the beach and the warm weather. However, there are several things we need to do to prevent future damage to our skin. It doesn't matter how old you are, Protecting your skin during these sunny days is essential to maintain healthy and beautiful skin for years to come.SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The higher the amount of SPF you use, the more protection you'll have. You can also look for the words “broad spectrum protection” on the bottle because this gives you protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Look for ingredients like zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and octyl methoxycinnamate because this will mean that your sunscreen is actually a “broad spectrum” sunscreen. SPF not only prevents sunburn and damage to your skin, it also prevents premature wrinkles, premature sun spots and skin cancer. Don't forget it, because even when it's not really sunny; wear your SPF! Because even on cloudy days, you can still get sunburned! For people who like to walk around with a nice shiny tan, remember that you can still get tanned skin despite wearing an SPF. Your skin alone won't burn. Believe it or not, antioxidants can actually help fight free radicals from the air and they can also help protect you from the sun. For example, by eating a delicious salad full of anti-oxidant-rich products and applying a good SPF at the same time, your skin will get a nice tan on the outside, but the inside will also remain happy, undamaged and healthy. Drinking water while sitting in the sun is an essential part of preventing dry, sunburned scaly skin. All in all, when you're going to the beach, sitting in the garden, or just enjoying a day outdoors, don't forget to protect your skin with a broad spectrum SPF, eat lots of antioxidant-rich foods and drink a nice glass of iced water. Your skin will thank you and will stay youthful, fresh and revitalized for years to come!
