The safety of JUVÉDERM® Fillers

The history of Juvéderm
The basis for Juvéderm was laid as early as 1934, when medical researchers Karl Meyer and John Palm (both at Columbia University in New York) discovered the hydrating effect of hyaluronic acid. Nevertheless, it took longer than sixty years before cosmetic treatments were performed: it wasn't until 1996 that hyaluronic acid was first used as a skin filler. Juvéderm was developed by the American pharmaceutical company Allergan.
What is a hyaluronic acid filler?
hyaluronic acid fillers are our tools in the fight against loss of volume and shape. After a treatment, the volume at the treated area (s) is immediately restored and the skin is smoother. Depending on the treatment chosen, facial contours improve, puffiness and dark circles disappear, wrinkles fade, fill lips and reduce scars. All with a natural result.
The fillers that we use at Kliniek Dokter Frodo have the great advantage that they provide immediate but non-permanent results. Just like our body's own hyaluronic acid, the hyaluronic acid in the filler is broken down naturally. Depending on the type of treatment, the result can be seen for years.
If you are not satisfied with the result, it is possible to modify or even remove the injectables in a non-surgical way.
Degradable fillers
The fillers we mainly work with, Juvéderm and Restylane, are biodegradable fillers. The injected filler immediately gives volume and also stimulates the natural production of new collagen. Depending on the type of treatment, the breakdown of the hyaluronic acid in the filler slowly starts after a year and a half. With a timely touch-up treatment, you can prevent a yo-yo effect.
Fillers that are not biodegradable and that we therefore use not work, are encapsulated by the tissue and therefore remain in the injected area. Because the aging processes in the skin just keep running their course, new wrinkles naturally occur in the treated area. The rate at which this happens can vary between two and five years.
The risk of complications and hardening of the skin is so high with irreversible treatment with non-degradable fillers that Clinic Doctor Frodo does not work with these products. Because we find information very important, we give you a number of examples of non-degradable fillers so that you can properly inform yourself.

In a holistic treatment, we do not look at your specific needs separately, but focus on the overall picture of your face for the most optimal improvement in your appearance.
